Amit Ji: The Water Hero

“We never know the worth of water till the
well is dry”
When we shifted from Khan Market to Sujan Singh Park, in the year
of 2010, the first problem we faced was arranging for drinking water. In our early days, we would have to arrange for water through
multiple sources, until Amit Ji came as our “Water Hero” and promised
to provide us with free drinking water. Amit Ji runs a business of selling 20 litres
water
bottles and supplying them to shops and homes nearby.

Amitji also helps us in other ways. For example, he prefers hiring Manzil students as accountants for managing the
finances of his business. He also provides employment to those who complete Manzil’s
Tally (Accounting Software) course.
When thinking about Amit Ji, a particular incident comes
to mind, one day when we were in need of a place to organise one of our
events called Manzil Got Talent in 2016, an annual event to help provide a
platform to our students for showcasing their talents, he helped connect us
with his former school, Lodhi State School, who graciously landed us their
auditorium, Vidhya Bhawan Maha Vidhyalaya.
He did
not stop there. He also provided 20 bottles of drinking water for free at
Manzil Utsav held on 10th November 2019. Manzil Utsav
happens every 2 years and is the biggest event organized to celebrate our students and their passions.
Whenever
I go to his shop, he always offers me tea. He is a curious man and often asks
various practical questions related to Tally or Account, which allows
me the opportunity to learn by exposing me to real-life financial challenges faced by a businessman.
Amit Ji is a hardworking and humble person. He travels every day from Ghaziabad to Khan Market which takes him 1.5 hours to travel one way.
His story
too is an inspiration for all of us. He is a self-made man who started his
business with 10 bottles and now supplies more than 150
of them in a single day. In his early days,
during a period of financial difficulty, he used to deliver
the bottles himself and now he has employed 3-4 boys who deliver water for his
business.
“The best gift
you can give to the coming generation is water”. On this note, we would like to
express our gratitude towards Amit Ji. He still continues providing us 2-3
bottles of drinking water every day for free. We salute his spirit of kindness
and wish him the best in future.
